About Better World Building Technology, LLC

Better World Building Technology, LLC is a minority business enterprise owned by Lois Lapekas and
managed by her husband, Toni Lynch, President, and Brad Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer.

Toni Lynch (President)

Toni Lynch entered the construction business upon his return from military service in Vietnam. Having developed extensive experience with foundation and roofing methods and materials, Toni recognized the energy superiority of insulated concrete forms (ICF), and he became a builder/distributer for the Polysteel line of ICFs, which he supplied to affordable housing developers.

Toni’s energy consciousness led him to search out state of-the-art efficiency in typical HVAC components, convenience appliances, and lighting. Now having conquered the energy conservation side of building construction, Toni sought ways to supplement the energy needs of his homes with non-carbon-based, alternate sources.

This led to his expertise in solar photovoltaics and geo-thermal heating and cooling systems. Toni championed this new Green Technology to the point where his efforts and accomplishments were cited in 1996 by the US Department of Energy.

He went on to become a Trade Ally of the NJ Clean Energy Program and, with Kennedy, construction-managed the large PV installations illustrated in the Case Study under the Solar Power section. Toni has also been retained by financial institutions that have sent him across the country to inspect for them solar farms they are financing.

Finally, in 2014 Toni built the first “Zero Net Energy Cost Home” on record in PA, seen in the Alternate Energy Section.
Our Services

Brad Kennedy (Chief Operating Officer)

Brad Kennedy founded a building business upon his return from military service in Vietnam. Early on, he took up the cause of energy efficiency to the point that, in 1981, he was appointed to serve as a juror for the annual Residential Design Competition conducted by the NJ Department of Energy.

Later he was asked to testify before the State Legislature on energy matters. In the mid-80’s, his company built a residential subdivision of solar homes, and in the mid-90’s, he was JCP&L’s poster boy for its System GT program, promoting geo-thermal construction in homes built by his company.

In the middle of the first decade of the new millennium, Kennedy switched to the nonprofit realm, where he oversaw the development and construction of affordable, low-energy cost housing for people with disabilities. In 2011, he aligned himself with Better World Building Technology, LLC, following their involvement with the solar installations on seven affordable apartment houses, funded by a USEPA Solar Pilot Program.

Our Engineers

During the course of our work on the USEPA Solar Pilot Program, we came to know Mr. Richard Ivins, PE, the President and Founder of Pure Power Engineering. Since then we have deepened our relationship, so that now we have the comfort of relying on his firm’s solar engineering expertise in all the work we do.
